What do bloating, hives, adult acne, and palpitations have in common?
SURPRISINGLY, A LOT MORE THAN YOU THINK!
It’s been increasingly common lately to see women arrive in clinic with symptoms spanning multiple systems.
By the time they get to me, many have already been down several rabbit holes:
Testing for food intolerances, histamine intolerance, autoimmune conditions, parasite cleanses, elimination protocols, etc.
And because these symptoms often appear in clusters, the search for a singular diagnosis usually begins.
Sometimes these investigations are warranted. But often, when we step back and map symptoms properly, a different picture emerges. Many of these changes follow the menstrual cycle with remarkable consistency.
Fluctuations in oestrogen and progesterone influence:
Gut motility, inflammatory signalling, histamine activity, nervous system tone, fluid balance, and pain sensitivity.
Which means the same food, stimulus, or environmental exposure can produce very different responses depending on timing.
This isn’t to minimise symptoms or suggest they should be ignored. It’s to recognise that not every shift requires “fixing", and not every reaction indicates pathology.
Sometimes what’s needed first is not more restriction, but better observation, tracking, context, and phase-specific support. And sometimes, that tracking may reveal something deeper that does require further investigation - and this is where I can help you.
The symptom tracker in this post is designed to help identify that difference.
When symptoms are mapped against the cycle, what feels random often becomes much easier to understand, and often the unpleasant symptoms being experienced can be minimised or avoided altogether.
