Wellness culture- specifically, the performance of it- is giving me the ick. There, I said it…
You don’t need another supplement or morning routine, or another podcast telling you how to optimise your circadian rhythm while simultaneously selling you powdered elk antlers.
I think most of us already know a handful of things that would make us feel a little better tomorrow than we do today.
Drink some water, eat something green, touch some grass, watch the sun come up if you can. Or watch it leave. It doesn't seem to mind which one you choose.
Move your body, massage your meat suit, look another human in the eyeballs, and stop rawdogging your cortisol with coffee on an empty stomach.
None of these things are particularly revolutionary. Which is almost offensive, given how much money I've spent on education.
So to push back, I made a game.
Basic Bitch Bingo.
An opportunity to celebrate the gloriously unremarkable things that make life better. Proof that the things that support our health are often wonderfully ordinary. These are the foundations: moving, connecting, nourishing yourself, getting outside, and paying attention to the life happening around you.
Andddd… because I also despise algorithms, this isn’t a collab or a cross-promotion either. There’s no tagging your entire friendship group or collecting entries like Pokémon.
If you've got a cracking recipe, share it. If you catch a ridiculous sunrise, show us. If you've found a beautiful walking track, let someone else know it exists.
I'd love this to become one of those corners of the internet where strangers accidentally cheer each other on. If it takes off, then I might even throw in a cute reward at the end of August.
