Harissa Carrot, Avocado & Labneh Salad
Ok, so admittedly, I sometimes create dishes selfishly, like this one, for example.
It was either Christmas or Boxing Day, I can’t remember, but this one was born out of the aftermath, not the glossy table spread that you see pictured here.
The fridge was full, but in a slightly deranged way. Bits of roast things, herbs going wild, excess dip waiting for instructions they’ll never receive, and extra carrots no one, but myself, was that excited about the night before.
I was just hungry and not in the mood for another heavy, festive situation. So I wasn’t really thinking about anyone else eating it. I was thinking about my nervous system, my digestion, and my slightly fried, slightly overfed state. I wanted warm and grounding without heaviness, a little agni kindling without too much heat, cause it was already fucking HOT!
And like I said in my last post, I’m very much in my Marge Simpson era, so creating numerous dishes utilising the same usual suspects has kind of been my superpower as of late, and so this was born.
I’ve made it again since. Intentionally this time. Warm enough for Vata, not too sharp for Pitta, still a little selfish, if I’m honest. But worth sharing. And since I’ve been leading you on the past couple of weeks with the labneh and then the Cilibr, I’m half convinced you’ve still got some tucked away in the fridge pretending you’re not thinking about it, when we both know you are.
Go on, make a move on it, I’d be disappointed if you didn’t.
